Spider Basketball Tip-Off Reception Returns on October 1

3rd annual event offers behind-the-scenes look at 2026-27 Spiders
RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond men's and women's basketball will host a Tip-Off Reception on Thursday, October 1 in the Queally Athletics Center and Spider Hall.
Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres beginning at 6 PM. Voice of the Spiders Bob Black will serve as the master of ceremonies for a brief program that will include welcome remarks by both men's head coach Chris Mooney and women's head coach Alisa Kresge. Members of the 2026-27 men's and women's basketball rosters will also be introduced.
At 7 PM, attendees will have the opportunity to view a men's basketball intrasquad scrimmage from courtside seats in the Queally Athletics Center. Guests are also able to arrive as early as 4:30 PM to view women's basketball practice at the Queally Athletics Center.
Registration and tickets are required and are available at https://uronline.net/basketballtipoff. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Basketball Student-Athlete Development Funds, which provide resources to support the university's efforts to enhance roster-building, recruitment, and retention by providing direct payments to basketball student-athletes.
The Tip-Off Reception is part of a year-long series of events offering in-depth, exclusive access to Spider basketball to select supporters. Individuals interested in future events should contact Associate Athletics Director for Basketball Development Jim Merritt at jmerritt.richmond.edu.
