WASHINGTON, D.C. — Freshman Christina Stamoulacatos scored in the eighth minute as Richmond battled George Washington to a 1-1 draw Sunday in the Atlantic 10 opener for both teams, extending the Spiders' unbeaten streak to nine games this season and 12 games dating back to last season, both program records.

Richmond moved to 5-0-4 overall and 0-0-1 in A10 play. Richmond's active nine-game single-season unbeaten streak surpassed the mark set by the 2011 team, which went 7-0-1 over an eight-game stretch in October. Dating back to last season, UR is now 6-0-6 over its last 12 matches, a streak that began with a 1-1 draw against George Washington on Oct. 19, 2025.

Stamoulacatos gave Richmond an early advantage, unleashing a left-footed strike from 25 yards out at the 7:31 mark that deflected off a defender, up and over keeper, and into the net for her second goal of the season. Stamoulacatos has now recorded a point in four straight games, with two goals and two assists in that span. George Washington answered just over three minutes later as a cross redirected off of Spider defender Julia Lisha and eked over the Richmond goal line.

The Revolutionaries controlled much of the remainder of the opening half, outshooting Richmond 11-3 and putting five shots on goal. Veronica Rrapi made three saves in the half, while the Spiders also recorded a team save in the 30th minute to keep the score even.

Richmond flipped the shot differential after halftime, outshooting GW 10-6 over the final 45 minutes. Kingsley Hughes forced a save less than two minutes into the half, Morgane Zinn tested goalkeeper Marley Gerber in the 51st minute and Emma Newman put another attempt on frame in the 58th. The Spiders generated seven of the first 10 shots of the second half as they searched for a go-ahead goal.

Isabel Seifert replaced Rrapi in goal at halftime and kept GW off the scoreboard, making saves in the 84th and 87th minutes. Hughes forced Gerber's fifth save of the afternoon in the 86th minute before Zinn sent Richmond's final chance wide right with less than a minute remaining. Seifert has now allowed just one goal, a penalty kick, in 405 minutes this season.

George Washington finished with a 17-13 advantage in shots and a 7-6 edge in shots on goal, while holding a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks. Hughes led Richmond with three shots, including two on goal.

Richmond will return home Thursday to face Duquesne at 5 p.m. at President's Field at River Road.
