Assistant Coach Alexa Ostoich is in her second season with the Spiders after joining the Richmond staff in January 2022.
In her first season with the Spiders, the 2022 squad was offensively paced by A-10 First Team and NFHCA All-Region honoree Lindsey Frank for a second-straight season with eight goals and five assists for 21 points. Defender Tess Keppel collected second team league honors leading the league with five of the Spiders seven defensive saves. Keppel's five defensive saves, including two against Wake Forest, ranked seventh nationally, while the team's seven total defensive saves ranks 16th nationally. Lainey Nichols collected A-10 All-Rookie accolades after scoring five goals, with two against Bucknell.Â
Prior to UR she served as an assistant coach, logging two seasons in one calendar year, at Bucknell University, where she helped the program to capture the programs first Patriot League Championship title, NCAA Tournament victory over VCU and NCAA Elite 8 appearance in the spring 2021 season. She was also a part of the 2021 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Mideast Coaching Staff of the Year with the Bison.

Prior to Bucknell, Ostoich served as the head field hockey coach at The Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, Pa., as well as a U16 coach for Shock Field Hockey Club in Glen Mills, Pa. in 2020.

In addition to her two Pennsylvania coaching positions, Ostoich spent portions of 2020 at her alma mater, Old Dominion, serving as a USA Field Hockey Futures coach. In the role, Ostoich trained various levels of athletes from young beginners to experienced high school seniors. Ostoich also spent her summers at Old Dominion as a coach, camp counselor and referee.

Ostoich spent the 2019 field hockey season at Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia Beach, Va. as an assistant varsity coach and head junior varsity coach. In the same academic year, Ostoich also assisted with the Ocean Lakes track & field team.

In 2017 and 2018, Ostoich worked as a coach and camp counselor at Villa Maria Academy in Malvern, Pa., where she herself was a First Team All-State field hockey player. Ostoich used her own experience to educate parents and players about Division I athletics and the life of a collegiate student-athlete.
Ostoich put together a successful playing career at Old Dominion from 2015 to 2019, contributing to two Big East Tournament appearances and totaling 18 points in 50 career games played for the Monarchs.

A native of Malvern, Pa., Ostoich earned her bachelor's degree in physical education and health from Old Dominion in 2020. Her older sisters, Catherine, ‘13, and Samantha, ’15, are both University of Richmond Field Hockey alumnae.
