Nicol's coaching experience comes previously at the club level. He is the goalie coach for Ultimate Orange, a summer team comprising of New York and Connecticut talent. Also on the Ultimate Orange staff is Andrew’s father, John, a longtime high school and college lacrosse coach. Prior, he was the goalie coach for Three Tribes Lacrosse. He was also a head coach during his time with Three Tribes.
As a four-year starter and three-year captain goalie at Vassar College, Nicol recorded 649 saves in net on his way to receiving his B.A. in Economics in May of 2014. He finished in the Top 10 nationally in save percentage at the enf of his freshman year and saves per game after this sophomore year. As a freshman, his 11-save performance in a 5-4 upset at St. Lawrence gave the program their first-ever league win, snapping a streak of 57 losses. Nichol had 207 saves his junior year to help him earn the Vassar College Betty Richey Award for the Male Student Athlete of the Year. He had 18 games with 15 or more saves and finished with the most career wins and league wins in program history. He was honored as Liberty League Rookie of the Week twice and Liberty Performer of the Week twice.
The Carmel, New York native and graduate of Brewster High is currently working to earn his Master of Education in Sport Leadership at the Center for Sport Leadership at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is expected to graduate in May of 2015.
