No. 12 James Madison Bests Richmond, 5-1

RICHMOND, Va. - The 12th-ranked James Madison Dukes got two goals each from seniors Liz Sanders and Whitney Diebolt in posting a 5-1 field hockey win over the University of Richmond Spiders in Colonial Athletic Association action on Wednesday afternoon at Crenshaw Field.
The Dukes put two in the cage in the first half. With 19:39 remaining in the half, the Dukes' Theresa Dinallo found Liz Sanders (Waynesboro, Pa./Waynesboro) who punched it in for the first score of the contest. Eleven minutes later, Whitney Diebolt (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) scored off a pass from Liz Sanders and Amanda Nichols on a penalty corner to put the Dukes up 2-0 at halftime.
Sanders would strike again in the second half. The senior scored her second goal of the game and team-leading 16th of the year on a breakaway 10-yard bullet at the 26:44 mark in the second half. James Madison would add two more scores in the next ten minutes. The Spiders Heather Rice (Oklahoma City, Okla/Heritage Hall) netted Richmond's lone goal off of a penalty corner with 3:00 remaining.
Richmond falls to 3-8, 0-2 while James Madison improves to 6-3, 2-0 on the season. The Spiders travel to #17 Duke on Saturday.
