Richmond Bests Colgate, 5-2

HAMILTON, N.Y. - Junior Heather Rice (Oklahoma City, Okla/Heritage Hall) scored four of the Spiders' five goals as Richmond defeated Colgate 5-2 on Sunday. With the win, the Spiders improve to .500 on the season with a 2-2 record.
Richmond got on the board first when junior Holly Chase (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) found the back of the net off the pass from Megan Conway (Forty Fort, Pa./Wyoming Seminary). Richmond did not let up as Rice netted her first goal of the afternoon at 14:48. The All-Conference performer would score twice in the final two minutes of the first half. Rice scored an unassisted goal at the 1:56 mark and with :08 left in the half, the junior scored her third goal of the afternoon off the assist from Conway and Chase. The Spiders led 4-0 at intermission. In the second half, Rice would add another score, her 35th career goal to seal the win for the Spiders.
Richmond hosts Virginia on Thursday, September 7 at 4 p.m.
