Richmond Women's Tennis Falls To Minnesota, 5-2

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota women's tennis team claimed four singles victories and won the doubles point to notch a 5-2 victory over Richmond in dual-meet action at the Northwest Athletic Club.
Richmond claimed its only points at No. 3 singles as sophomore Vanessa Bagnato (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) defeated Michaela Havelkova, 7-6, 2-6 (10-7 in the tiebreaker). In additon, Spider sophomore Monika Peetes (Tallinn, Estonia/Tallinn Science) posted a 3-6, 7-6 (10-5 in the tiebreaker) over Jennifer Howard at the No. 5 spot.
Minnesota posted straight-set wins at the Nos. 1, 2, 4 and 6 spots to pick up the victory. In addition, in doubles competition the Golden Gophers registered straight-set victories at No. 1 (8-3) and No. 3 (8-0) doubles.
Richmond returns to action on Saturday, January 27, meeting Gustavus College.
