Barbulescu Set to Compete at ITA All American Championship

RICHMOND, Va. – For a second-straight season, the University of Richmond women's tennis program will be represented at the ITA All American Championship pre-qualifying tournament in Cary, NC this weekend.
Sophia Barbulescu will compete for Richmond at the ITA All American Championship at Cary Tennis Park. In her first two seasons at UR, the Snagov, Romania native., collected back-to-back Atlantic 10 Conference First Team honors while putting together a 17-19 record at No. 1 singles spring season action.
Last season, Lara Bakhaya competed in the event on her first set 6-2 over Rylie Hanford of Notre Dame before dropping two close sets 7-5, 7-6 (7-3).
The ITA All Americans Championship acts in two ways for competitors, first as a qualification event into the NCAA tournament as well as contributes to earning 'All-American' status.
