BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The University of Richmond women's tennis team swept five singles matches and claimed two doubles points to notch a 7-0 victory over Gustavus Adolphus today at the University of Minnesota.
At No. 1 singles, sophomore Jodi Kenoyer (Lighthouse Point, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons) took three sets to defeat Ellen Anderson, 6-1, 3-6, 6-2. Freshman Jeanette Cluskey (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) bested Allison Kramer, 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 2 position, while sophomore Vanessa Bagnato (Manhasset, N.Y./Manhasset) posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Kris Rosborough at No. 3. Sophomore Casey Cohen (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./The Bolles School) was a 6-4, 7-6 victor over Mia Richter at the No. 4 spot. In addition, Richmond sophomore Monika Peetes (Tallinn, Estonia/Tallinn Science School) completed the singles whitewash with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Kristin Donley.
Cluskey teamed with Kenoyer to best Anderson and Kramer, 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. Bagnato and Peetes notched an 8-5 win over Rosborough and Donley at the No. 2 spot, before Cohen and newcomer Patty Devlin (York, Pa./York Suburban) recorded an 8-5 triumph over Richter and Amy Holland at No. 3.
Richmond (1-2) returns to action on Saturday, February 10, visiting the University of Miami at 2 p.m.
