Field Hockey Falls at West Chester in Overtime

WEST CHESTER, PA -- West Chester's Lindsay Gordon scored the game-winning goal with 12:12 remaining in the first overtime period to lead the Golden Rams in a 2-1 Atlantic 10 field hockey victory against Richmond.
Gordon also assisted on the game's first goal when she set up Kendra Wood off a penalty corner that gave West Chester a 1-0 lead at 22:53 of the first half.
The game remained that way until Richmond senior Heather Rice knotted the score, 1-1, on a penalty stroke with just 1:09 to play in regulation. It was Rice's conference-leading 12th goal of the season and her 60th career goal.
Gordon scored the game-winner 2:39 into the overtime frame off a feed from Stacey Tomes.
Richmond goalie Jennifer Alpert made six saves in defeat.
West Chester improved to 9-6 overall, 3-1 in the Atlantic 10. Richmond falls to 8-8 overall, 1-3 in Atlantic 10 action.
The Spiders return to action on Saturday, October 27 when they host Massachusetts.
