UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -- Ohio State junior forward Stacey Todd scored twice as the tenth-ranked Buckeyes (9-1-0) defeated the Richmond Spiders (6-5), 4-0 in college field hockey action on Saturday afternoon at Crenshaw Field.
Ten minutes into the contest, Ohio State executed a perfect breakaway as Marije van Nouhuys drove down the middle of the circle, dishing to an open Vanessa Immordino on the left side of the goal box . Todd scored the first of her two goals at the 4:50 mark of the first half when she tipped a deflected shot into the boards, putting the Buckeyes up 2-0 at the half. The Ohio State defense allowed no Richmond shots in the first half.
Less than four minutes into the second half, Ohio State would add its third goal as Todd slipped one past Richmond goalkeeper Jennifer Alpert (Rockville, Md./Wootton). The Buckeyes added a late goal to seal the victory. Ohio State attacked Richmond aggressively in the second half, tallying 17 of its 24 shots in the contest. Alpert collected a career-best 11 saves in the contest.
