Spiders Fall To Charlotte, 62-42

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Jobey Thomas scored 16 points and Cam Stephens had 15 points and 11 rebounds as Charlotte beat Richmond 62-42 on Saturday night.
Demon Brown added 10 points and seven rebounds as Charlotte (4-3) ended a two-game losing streak.
Tony Dobbins had 10 points and six rebounds, and Mike Skrocki added eight points as Richmond (3-3) dropped its third straight.
Charlotte outrebounded Richmond 41-24.
Richmond shot 32 percent overall, including 4-of-21 from 3-point range, and went 7 minutes without a basket during one stretch of the second half.
There were 10 lead changes and two ties in the first 10 minutes before Stephens scored five straight points in a 7-0 run to give Charlotte a 21-16 lead with 8:44 left. Stephens hit a follow shot and Thomas scored on a runner in the final minute put the 49ers up 32-22 at halftime.
Charlotte had blown three of seven halftime leads this season, but Thomas hit a 3-pointer 38 seconds into the second half and the 49ers cruised from there.
Richmond, which came in averaging 35 percent from the field, made just 8-of-30 shots in the first half, including 3-of-13 from 3-point range.
It was the first meeting between the teams since 1973 - their only other meeting.
