Note From Head Coach Mark Wesselink
02/14/2001 | Women's Tennis
Congratulations on becoming a Spider! This will be the first line of your acceptance letter from the University of Richmond.
Before you receive this letter, you will need to answer some important questions about yourself. Am I willing to push myself for two to three hours on the practice courts each day? Can I handle weight room training, lifting, stretching and running for another hour?
Being a member of the University of Richmond women's tennis team is more work...and more fun than you could ever anticipate.
After paying your dues by pushing yourself in junior competition, you are going to be amazed at how much energy and excitement can be generated by working toward a common goal. Whether you are winning a match or sitting on the court supporting a teammate, you will soon realize that the team can bring you to a level that was not possible as an individual player.
As a coach, it is exciting for me to watch a player's game improve during the year. But seeing the group encouraging each other and uniting through one another's support is most satisfying to me.
