Spiders Sweep Past Drexel, 7-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The University of Richmond men's tennis team swept six singles matches and claimed the doubles point to blank Drexel, 7-0 on Saturday morning at Lewis Tennis Center.
At one singles, Spider freshman Nikki Doll (Heidelberg, Germany/Heidelberg Gymnasium) bested Jaskaran Singh, 6-1, 6-1. In addition, Richmond newcomer David Donn (East Longmeadow, Mass./East Longmeadow) defeated John Dinan at the two position, while junior Todd Parker (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) was a straight sets (6-2, 6-0) victor over Nevzat Cubukcu at three singles. At the No. 4 spot, sophomore Danny Scrafford (Centreville, Va./Centreville) registered a 6-0, 6-2 win over Alex Sutton. Senior Mark Scordo (Essex Falls, N.J./West Essex) came away with an 8-1 triumph over Scott Nagao at five singles, while sophomore John Oxley (Huntington, W.Va./Huntington) recorded an 8-2 win over Keith Juaniza.
In doubles competition, Doll combined with Scordo to defeat Singh and Dinan, 8-3 at the top spot and Donn teamed with Scrafford to post an 8-2 win over Sutton and Juaniza at two doubles. Oxley and Spider freshman Jeremy Howard (Dartmouth, Mass./Moses Brown School) completed the whitewash with a 9-7 victory versus Cubkcu and Nagao.
Richmond (5-5) resumes action on Sunday afternoon, visiting the University of Maryland at 1 p.m.
