Pritz' Hits Give Radford Fits

Richmond, Virginia - Freshman outfielder Bryan Pritz (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) went 4-4 and scored four runs to lead the Richmond Spiders past the Radford Highlanders 16-1 this afternoon at Pitt Field. Richmond improved to 19-20, while Radford fell to 10-24.
Richmond head coach Ron Atkins, in his 17th season with the Spiders, earned his 499th career win.
Pritz walked and scored in the first, singled and scored in the second, singled in the third, singled and scored in the fifth and tripled and scored in the sixth. The Spiders scored in six of their eight trips to the plate.
Senior catcher John Nathans (Warwick, N.Y./Trinity Pawling) had three hits and three RBI for the Spiders. Freshman outfielder Chris Dolan (Holmdel, N.J./Christian Brothers) had two hits, two runs and three RBI. Sophomore shortstop David Reaver (Union Bridge, Md./Linganore) scored twice and drove in three runs.
Junior outfielder Chris Herald (North Canton, Ohio) went 3-3 for the Highlanders.
Senior righthander Brian Lane (Crofton, Md./Arundel) was the starter and winner for Richmond, going 5.0 innings with seven hits, one run, no walk and three strikeouts. He raised his record to 5-0.
The Spiders will host James Madison this weekend in a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series at Pitt Field. Friday's game will begin at 2:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday's contests will start at 1:00 p.m.
