PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The University of Pennsylvania will host the Fifth Annual Cissie Leary Invitational this weekend. The event, scheduled for Sept. 28-30, will showcase players from some of the top programs in the region, including seven athletes ranked in the preseason top 100 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Participating schools include Brown, Cornell, Columbia, Lehigh, Old Dominion, Ohio State, Penn State, Princeton, Richmond, Seton Hall, Temple, Yale and host Penn.
University of Pennsylvania Head Coach Michael Dowd said, "We are very proud to host the Cissie Leary Invitational for the fifth year. This year, the tournament will have the biggest and strongest field ever, including some of the best players in the country.
"I believe Penn hosts the best regional tournament and now with such high ranking teams participating, we have taken the event to a national level as well," concluded Dowd.
Topping the list of singles participants is Nataly Cahana (Old Dominion), who is currently ranked fourth in the nation and Kavitha Krishnamurthy (Princeton), currently ranked No. 33. The pairs of Cahana/Ana Radeljevic (Old Dominion), ranked No. 28, and the No. 33 ranked team of Monica Rincon/Kristy Dascoli (Ohio State) top the doubles list.
