PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Richmond junior Brittney Parrish (Louisville, Ky.) tallied two second half goals to help lead the Spiders to a 3-0 victory over Saint Jospeh's this afternoon at Finnesey Field. With the win, Richmond improves to 9-6 overall, 3-0 in Atlantic 10 action, while the Crimson and Gray fall to 6-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
After a scoreless first half, the Spiders opened the second half with a goal from sophomore Laura Hur (Chevy Chase, Md.). Senior Kristin Gavin (Roseland, N.J.) assisted on the penalty corner goal.
Saint Joseph's senior Aly Dankovitch received a red card in the 54th minute and the Hawks played one player down for the final 18:38.
Parrish added a pair of goals to set the final margin. The first score came off a rebound of a penalty corner and the second was a tap-in off a pass Melissa Yuppa (Fairfield, N.J.).
Richmond goalie Michelle Swartz (Severna Park, Md.) posted her sixth shutout of the season and her second consecutive shutout in Atlantic 10 action. She recorded four saves on the afternoon while Saint Joseph's goalkeeper Courtney Huff made three stops.
Richmond is back in action on Sunday, October 20 as they face Temple University in Philadelphia.
