Women's Tennis Advances To Atlantic 10 Championship

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The University of Richmond advanced to the championship match in its first ever Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament with a 4-0 win against Dayton at the Tennis Center at College Park in College Park, Md.
The top-seeded Spiders will face third-seed Xavier at 11 a.m. in the championship match with a berth in the NCAA Tournament to the victor.
In today's triumph against Dayton, Richmond captured the doubles point with an 8-0 win from Vanessa Bagnato and Lindsay Cox and an 8-3 win from Casey Cohen and Courtney Klein.
The Spiders cruised into singles competition where Cox won again, 6-1, 6-1 against Dayton's Angie Del Rosso at the No. 3 spot. The match was clinched at No. 6 singles where Richmond's Patty Devlin defeated Dayton's Katie Landrigan, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 1, Jeannette Kluskey was leading Erin Kirkland 4-3 when Kirkland was forced to retire because of injury.
Richmond was also winning its other three singles matches when the contest was concluded.
A win in tomorrow's championship match would seal the first A-10 women's title for either school.
