The University of Richmond women's tennis team closed out an impressive first season of Atlantic 10 play as the Spiders had little trouble winning the conference tournament and an automatic bid to the NCAA field of 64. At the A-10 championships, held April 19-21 in College Park, Md., No. 1 seeded Richmond did not yield a single point to its opponents, outscoring them 12-0. The Spiders finished their season 12-10, 5-0 in the A-10, as they dominated A-10 competition by a combined margin of 32-1 in their conference singles and doubles matches. Head coach Mark Wesselink, who has now led the squad to double-digit win totals in eight of the past nine seasons, was selected as the Coach of the Year.
