Men's Basketball Crushes Duquesne, 84-47

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.- Junior forward Mike Skrocki (Howell, N.J.) scored 20 points, 18 of those in the first half, as the Spiders cruised to an 84-47 win over Duquesne in Atlantic 10 action on Tuesday evening at the Robins Center. With the victory, Richmond's fourth in a row, the Spiders improve to 12-6, 6-1 while the Dukes fall to 7-13, 1-6 in A-10 play.
The Spiders matched a season-best first-half field goal percentage, 60 percent (18-30), tying their performance at Duquesne 10 days ago. In addition, they registered a season-best 13 steals.
Richmond, who led from the opening basket, stretched the lead to 15-3 just four minutes into the game. A Tony Dobbins steal and subsequent lay-in capped off a 15-1 run that put the home team up by 24 points (32-8) at the 7:52 mark. Richmond took a 48-19 lead into the locker room.
The Spiders continued to surge offensively in the second half, as a Myers triple from the right wing gave UR an amazing 40-point advantage (73-33) with more than eight minutes to go.
Richmond entertains Atlantic 10 rival Xavier on Saturday, February 1 at Noon in a nationally-televised ESPN contest.
