
Field Hockey Defeats Temple, 2-1, to Claim First Place in the A-10

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Sophomore Allie Howard (Lancaster, Pa.) scored the game-winning goal, in overtime, to lift the University of Richmond field hockey team over Temple University, 2-1, this afternoon at Crenshaw Field. With the victory, the Spiders give the Owls their first conference loss and claim first-place in the Atlantic 10.
After a scoreless first half, junior Laura Hur (Chevy Chase, Md.) got a shot and goal at 36:53, after Temple goalie Erin Conroy reflected a shot by freshman Inge van Bogerijen (Zeist, The Netherlands).
The Owls responded when Monica Jiao scored on a penalty shot at 67:14 to send the game into overtime.
In overtime, Howard scored at 75:52 when her shot swept past Conroy and into the corner of the goal, ending the game.
The Spiders improve to 14-2 overall and 5-0 in the A-10, while Temple falls to 9-8 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
Richmond returns to action on Sunday, October 26th hosting Saint Joseph's University with game time scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
