UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Junior Laura Hur led the University of Richmond field hockey team with two goals and one assist as they shutout Saint Joseph's University, 6-0, at Crenshaw Field this afternoon. The win marks the seventh consecutive for the Spiders.
Richmond controlled the contest from the start, when sophomore Emma Bradley scored after a scramble in front of the goal at 1:11. Hur recorded her first goal of the game, unassisted, at 15:01 to put the Spider up 2-0 at the half.
In the second half, the Spiders tallied three goals within eight minutes of play. The first came at 50:33 when Hur scored off a penalty corner, with assists credited to freshman Inge van Bogerijen and sophomore Michelle La Force. The second happened when sophomore Ashley Barnes recorded her first goal of the game, at the 52:25 mark, off an assist from Hur. Sophomore Whitney Wellsscored the third at 58:48, with the assist credited to Bradley.
With Richmond on top, 5-0, Barnes registered her second goal of the contest at 63:43, off an assist from La Force.
The Spiders improve to 15-2 overall and 6-0 in the Atlantic 10, while Saint Joseph's falls to 2-3 in the conference and 6-10 overall.
Richmond is back in action on Wednesday, October 29th hosting Virginia Commonwealth University with game time scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
