Boone, N.C. - Sophomore midfielder Allie Howard scored the lone goal of the match leading No. 14-ranked Richmond to a 1-0 victory over Appalachian State University Saturday night.
Less than 10 minutes into the match, Howard was able to slip a shot past Mountaineer goalkeeper Kate Ryno, giving the Spiders the early 1-0 advantage. Senior Lydia Decembrino was able to setup the play with a brilliant pass catching the Mountaineer defense out of position.
Richmond improves to 9-2 while Appalachian State falls to 7-3.
The Spiders begin Atlantic 10 play on Friday, October 10 when they face West Chester at 2:30 p.m.
