
Women's Fall Sports Garner Academic Achievements

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va.-Megan Cox (Raleigh, N.C.) of the women's soccer team and Michelle Swartz (Severna Park, Md.) of the women's field hockey team received Conference All-Academic accolades, as announced by the conference today.
Swartz started all 23 contests this season and re-wrote her 2002 records in the Spiders' all-time record book. She set the program record for GAA in a season with a 1.21 and now holds a career GAA with 1.24. Swartz earned her highest ranking in national statistics in October, when she was fourth with a 1.07 GAA. The sophomore goalie also led the Atlantic 10 with eight shutouts. In the classroom, Swartz is a Leadership Studies major and posts a 3.74.
Cox started 21 matches this season in the goal. As an A-10 Player of the Week and All-Conference first team selection, she finished the 2003 season with her name in the all-time record books. With 73 saves this season, she has accumulated 177 career saves and shares a second-place torch with Eileen Jacxsens for career saves. With a 1.10 GAA, she ranks third in the program's history. Her six shutouts this season clinch a fifth-place mark in single season standings and ranks second in career standings (16). Cox is a Biology major with a 3.46 GPA.
