Women's Tennis Tops Michigan State, 4-3

ORLANDO, Fl. - The University of Richmond women's tennis team recorded a 4-3 victory over Michigan State this afternoon in Orlando, Florida. The Spiders improve to 2-2 on the season.
"This was our first outdoor match of the season we've been able to play and the team adjusted well to the different enviroment," commented head coach Mark Wesselink. "It's great to have this win under our belt."
The Spiders started off the afternoon sweeping all three double matches. Richmond took three singles victories in the numbers three, four and five positions. At the #3 spot, freshman Katie Karhohs recorded a 6-4, 7-6 victory over Shelly Brady. Casey Cohen also won in singles for Richmond, defeating Karen Gustafson 6-2, 6-3.
Richmond's Lindsay Cox, playing in the number one slot, suffered an ankle injury and was unable to finish her match.
The Spiders return to the courts on Tuesday, March 5, when they take on Central Florida.
