Men's Tennis Falls in Atlantic 10 Championship

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The first-seeded University of Richmond men's tennis team fell 4-2 to second-seeded St. Bonaventure in the title match of the 2003 Atlantic 10 Tournament this afternoon at the Oxford Athletic Club. Richmond falls to 15-11 on the season as the Bonnies win their second conference crown in three years.
St. Bonaventure opened the contest earning the doubles point with wins at the #1 and #3 positions. David Donn (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and Jeppy Moss (Fredericksburg, Va.) paired to record an 8-6 victory at #2 doubles.
The Spiders earned wins in #4 and #6 singles as Derek Schwandt (Kennett Square, Pa.) defeated Nikhil Murali 6-4, 6-4 and Moss took the 6-1, 6-0 win over Sajeel Qureshi.
The Bonnies claimed the #1 and #5 singles points before the contest was decided with Vili Nurmi's 6-2, 7-6 (3) win over Matt Cabana (Plantation, Fla.) at the #3 slot.
The All-Championship Team will be voted upon by the coaches and released next week.
