Women's Tennis Competes at Maryland Invitational

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Richmond women's tennis team opened its fall season this past weekend as they participated in the Maryland Invitational. The event was held on the University of Maryland campus from September 26-28. The Spiders won eight doubles matches and 20 singles matches during the three-day tournament. Other colleges participating included Syracuse, American, West Virginia, Cornell and host Maryland.
Freshman Beatrice Grasu competed in the top flight for singles and lost in the finals to nationally ranked Emily Marker from the University of Maryland. Freshman Robin Carter swept the C Flight singles bracket and later teamed up with junior Courtney Klein to place first in the B Flight doubles bracket.
