UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Three University of Richmond student-athletes were named to the Atlantic 10 Weekly Honor Roll following their play throughout the last two weeks. Junior Matt Cabana was named the Men's Tennis Performer of the Week. The women's lacrosse team earned both honors this week as junior Kristen Habicht (Baltimore, Md.) was named Player of the Week and freshman Ashley Friend (Canandaigua, N.Y.) was selected as Rookie of the Week.
Cabana recorded a win in singles action, 6-1, 6-4, at the number three position, in the Spiders 5-2 loss to the Citadel. He recorded the team's lone singles point against UNC-Wilmington when he took a 7-6, 6-0 decision at the three spot. The junior also posted an 8-6 doubles victory, at the number one spot, against UNC-Wilmington.
Habicht earned her first-ever weekly accolade after recording consecutive hat tricks in the Spiders' three games, including two wins over ranked opponents. She led the team with a trio of goals against #9 Virginia and was one of three Richmond players to record a hat trick in the win over #16 California, the program's first-ever win over a nationally ranked opponent. She currently leads the team in both goals (nine) and draw controls (12).
Friend was selected as the Rookie of the Week after scoring in all three of the Spiders' games. She recorded her first career hat trick against #16 California and added two assists for a team-best five points. She scored one goal against both #9 Virginia and #20 William & Mary. Friend is the leading scorer among Richmond's freshman with six goals and two assists.
