Baseball Returns To The Field This Week

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond baseball team hits the road to take-on William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va. this evening at 7 p.m. and then the Spiders host Old Dominion on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
The Tribe (26-11) and the Spiders (18-14) have met 210 times with UR owning the all-time series, 140-69-1. The first meeting took place in 1895 with Richmond coming out on top, 20-3 and in 2003 they met twice with each team winning on its home field. ODU leads the series 55-50, which dates back to 1968. The Monarchs were scheduled to host the Spiders last week but the contest was cancelled due to rain.
Richmond went 1-2 against George Washington in conference action this past weekend and senior David Thomas concluded the series 6-for-11, including three runs, a triple and one RBI.
William & Mary won six of its last ten games and Chris Rahl leads the team with a .414 batting average, including 65 hits and 60 RBI. The Monarchs have lost eight of its last ten contests, including two out of three to Delaware last weekend.
Freshman Matt Francavillo is the probable starter for the Spiders on Tuesday. The right-hander has pitched 16.0 innings, struck out 10 and posts a 5.62 ERA. Starting on the mound for the Tribe will be Jeff Dagenhart. He leads the team with a 4-1 record and a 4.28 ERA.
Wednesday's contest against Old Dominion will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 950, beginning at 2:55 p.m.
