
Women's Tennis Knocked Out Of NCAA Tourney

NORMAN, OKLA. - The University of Richmond women's tennis team dropped its opening round NCAA Tournament match to 16th-seeded Tulane Green Wave, 4-0, this afternoon at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla. The 11th-ranked Green Wave ended the Spiders seven-match winning streak.
Richmond fell behind early as it lost the two completed doubles matches at the numbers one and two positions. Junior Courtney Klein and freshman Robin Carter played at No. 3 doubles and had their match tied at five, but were unable to complete it.
In singles action, freshman Courtney Klein dropped her match 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 and freshman Robin Carter fell 6-2, 6-2 at the number four spot.
The Spiders record falls to 14-9, with the loss while the Green Wave improves to 26-1 and move on to face Oklahoma Sunday afternoon. Richmond's season was highlighted with the Atlantic 10 Championship and second NCAA appearance in three years. The team looks to return to the NCAA Tourney next season as it will lose only one senior.
