Women's Tennis Opens Season with a Win

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Richmond women's tennis team won its season-opening contest yesterday afternoon, defeating East Tennessee State by a score of 4-3 in Williamsburg, Va. on the campus of William & Mary. The Spiders open the 2005 season with a 1-0 mark.
Richmond took the early lead at 1-0 after earning the doubles point with wins at the #1 and #3 spots.
In singles, the Bucs earned two points with a pair of wins after winning at the #3 and #5 positions but freshman Jelena Zivanovic tied it up for Richmond with a 6-4, 6-2 win.
The score remained even after ETSU won at the #2 spot and Richmond's Lindsay Cox won at the top position.
Junior Meghan Wolfgram gave the Spiders' the victory with her win at the #4 position.
