Men's Tennis Receives A-10 Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond seniors Derek Schwandt and Jeppy Moss and freshman Doug Banker were selected to the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis All-Conference Team as announced today by the league. In addition, Schwandt was named to the All-Academic Team.
The All-Conference team was voted upon by the league's head coaches while the conference's sports information directors selected the All-Academic Team.
Schwandt, a native of Kennett Square, Pa., is a repeat selection to the All-Conference squad after receiving the honor last season. He posted a 9-11 mark at #1 singles this year and recorded a 3-0 mark against league competition. Teaming with classmate Matthew Cabana, the duo compiled a 14-6 mark in the top doubles position and won six of their final seven matches.
Playing mostly at #3 singles, Moss posted an 11-4 record while winning all 11 matches in straight sets. The Fredericksburg, Va. native teamed with sophomore Bobby McNally to record a 9-6 mark at #2 doubles.
Banker led the team with 17 singles wins and put together a seven match win streak through the A-10 championship contest in which his match was not completed. A native of Greenwich, Conn., he paired with the three different partners for an 11-5 mark in doubles play.
Schwandt, with his second All-Academic Team award, holds a 3.54 grade point average and is majoring in business administration.
