Men's Tennis Swept By #2 Virginia

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Atlantic 10 champion Richmond was knocked out of the NCAA Tournament in the first round by Virginia, the nation's second-ranked team, 4-0, today at the Snyder Tennis Center in Charlottesville.
The Cavaliers cruised to the doubles point with an 8-1 victory at No. 1 and an 8-4 triumph at No. 2.
In singles action, Richmond, winners in eight straight before today, fought valiantly but succumbed in the final three spots. The senior trio of Derek Schwandt, Matt Cabana and Jeppy Moss battled before having their matches, Nos. 1-3, halted.
Cabana and Moss both won four games in the first set, while Schwandt was at 5-4 in his second set.
Richmond, NCAA Tournament participants three of the past four seasons, finishes its season with a record of 16-7.
