UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond freshman Lindsey Conrad notched a hat trick as four Spiders recorded multiple goals in an 11-0 win over West Chester in the Atlantic 10 opener on a rainy Friday at Crenshaw Field.
The No. 19 ranked Spiders improved to 8-4 on the season an 1-0 in the Atlantic 10. Richmond has not lost to an Atlantic 10 opponent since 2001 and has a 34-game winning streak against conference teams.
Conrad, the reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, scored three goals to give her eight on the season. She has scored seven goals in the last four games. Senior Heather Wrublesky, junior Shannon Taylor and freshman Megan Thompson each scored two goals. Taylor, the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week has 18 goals on the season, while Thompson has seven and Wrublesky six.
The Spiders out-shot West Chester 35-4 on the game and forced the Golden Rams' keeper to make 10 saves.
Richmond goalkeepers Becca Weaver and Jacki Raithel combined on the shutout, each making one save.
The Spiders return to action on Sunday when they host La Salle at noon.
