Carter and Vosters Lead A-10 Women's Tennis Honors

UNVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - University of Richmond's Robin Carter and Ashlee Vosters earned Atlantic 10 women's tennis honors following extremely solid performances in the Spiders' three matches this past week. Carter was named the A-10 Player of the Week after winning all three singles matches and two doubles matches, while teammate Vosters was selected as the Rookie of the Week after winning all three of her singles matches, as well as two doubles matches, leading the Spiders' to two of three wins in the week.
Carter, a junior from Mendham, NJ, went 3-0 at third singles and 2-1 at second doubles in three matches this past week. She earned straight set wins over Charleston Southern (6-2, 6-3) and Central Florida (6-2, 6-3) and a three-set win against North Carolina (6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (1). She also earned a clean 8-0 sweep against Charleston Southern and an 8-3 victory against Central Florida in doubles play, improving to 6-2 in singles action and 4-5 in doubles play for the season.
Carter is coming off a notable 2005 season which she posted a 12-8 mark in singles play, all at the No. 2 spot, after putting together a six-match win streak mid-season. She paired with Courtney Klein at No. 2 doubles to compile a 12-9 record and was named to the 2005 Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team.
Vosters, a freshman from Bethany, Del., posted a 3-0 week in singles play and a 2-1 week in doubles action. She won at fifth singles against Charleston Southern (6-0, 6-0) and Central Florida (6-1, 6-3) and at sixth singles against North Carolina (3-6, 6-0, 6-3). She also earned third doubles wins against Charleston Southern (8-0) and Central Florida (8-4), as she improved to 6-2 in singles play and 7-3 in doubles this season.
Vosters joined the Spiders from Worcester Preparatory School where she was a four year letterwinner in tennis and a captain her senior year. The six-time Delaware State Champion ranked in the Top 100 nationally in singles and in the Top 20 in doubles, was the 2005 Delaware State Woman's Champion, the 2003 Middle States Region Most Improved Player, earned the coaches award her senior year, and was No. 1 in the Middle States region at various times throughout her junior and sophomore year.
