Men's Tennis Falls To Xavier, 2-5

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond men's tennis team dropped a 2-5 decision to the Xavier Musketeers on Friday afternoon on the University of Richmond campus. Doug Banker earned the only win for the Spiders in singles action as they fell to 10-11 overall and 0-1 in Atlantic 10 play.
The Matt Stillwagon/Bobby McNally duo was unable to pick up a No. 1 doubles win; however, Banker and Brett Waikart paired up at No. 2 for an 8-6 victory, while Chris Louis and David Berry paired up at No. 3 to pull through with a hard-earned 9-8 win to give the Spiders a 1-0 advantage going into singles action.
Banker earned the Spiders only win at No. 1, while McNally, Stillwagon, Sami Belakhlef, Louis, and Waikart fell at the No. 2-6 positions as the Spiders fell to 1-5 in singles action and ended the match with a 2-5 disadvantage.
The Spiders will continue conference play tomorrow as they host Charlotte at 1:00 p.m.
