Men's Tennis Falls To No. 12 VCU In NCAA Tournament

RICHMOND, Va. - The Richmond men's tennis team was knocked out of the NCAA tournament after falling 4-0 to the Virginia Commonwealth Rams (26-4), one of the nation's top teams, on Saturday morning in first round action at the Thalhimer Tennis Center in Richmond, Va.
VCU started off the morning by securing the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and 2 spots and moved on to earn wins at No. 1, 3, and 5 singles.
In singles action, Bobby McNally, Chris Louis, and Michael Sommer were unable to finish their matches, while teammates Brett Waikart and Matt Stillwagon dropped at fifth and third singles, respectively. Shortly after, Doug Banker suffered a 6-4, 6-2 loss at the No. 1 spot to No. 15 Arnaud Lecloerec as the Rams took a 3-0 advantage in singles action and concluded the match, 4-0.
Richmond, Atlantic 10 Champions and NCAA Tournament participants in four of the past five seasons, finishes its season 16-14.
