Cameron Brown Named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American

University of Richmond third baseman Cameron Brown (Troy, N.Y.) was named to Louisville Slugger's Freshmen All-American Baseball Team, as chosen by Collegiate Baseball.
Brown, who was also named to the Atlantic 10 Second Team and the conference's All-Rookie squad, started all but one game for Richmond this season. He batted .305, which ranked fifth on the team, and led the league in hit by pitches with 18. Brown was second on the team and among the Atlantic 10 leaders in runs scored (44). In conference games, Brown ranked third in hit by pitches with eight.
Brown drove in 40 runs on the season, ranking second on the squad, and hit three home runs on the season. He was third on the team with 60 hits and tied for second with 14 doubles. His 40 RBIs were tied for second on the team. Brown was second among regulars with a .423 on-base percentage and was third on the team with 24 walks.
The former Bethlehem Central High standout was the first Spider freshman to be named to an all-conference team since 2003. Brown was a second-team all-state selection as a senior in 2005.
Richmond finished the 2006 season with a 22-33 overall record and a 12-15 mark in the Atlantic 10.
