Louis Earns A-10 Men's Tennis Honors

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Richmond junior tennis player Chris Louis (West Chester, Pa.) was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week after an undefeated weekend of play in the Spiders' wins over George Mason and Mary Washington on Saturday.
Louis earned his first wins of the spring season as he went 2-0 in both singles and doubles action in the Spiders' 2-0 week. Louis defeated George Mason's Stas Budagov, 6-0, 6-0, at first singles and paired up with David Berry for a clean 8-0 sweep over George Mason's Brown/Nayeem duo at third doubles.
Later that day, he defeated Mary Washington's Randy Loden at second singles (7-6 (5), 6-2) to improve to 2-3 in singles action this spring. He and Berry then notched their second win of the day, recording a 9-7 victory over Mary Washington's James/Detweiler at the No. 2 spot.
Louis is coming off a stellar 2006 season, in which he led the team with 16 singles wins (16-8 mark), competing at the No. 3, 4 and 5 spots. The three-time A-10 Performer of the Week built up a win streak of eight during the season. Louis also led the team with 14 doubles wins, posting a 14-6 mark playing at all three positions and compiling a win streak of five.
Louis and the Spiders return to action at Lehigh on Feb. 16 at 5:00 p.m., the first of three-straight road matches for Richmond.
