WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Richmond women's tennis team concluded its regular season in Williamsburg, Va. where it saw its six match win-streak come to an end with a 7-0 loss to #16 William & Mary on Saturday afternoon.
"We fought really hard; the match took almost four hours," stated Richmond head coach Mark Wesselink. "They are a really strong team, 16th in the country. I think our team benefited from playing a match like this just before A-10's."
Robin Carter and Beatrice Grasu notched the Spiders' only win at second doubles as the Tribe took the sweep.
"I was especially happy with our seniors pulling out a good win at second doubles," continued Wesselink. "Hopefully this match will make us tougher for A-10's."
The Spiders (6-7) will now go for their fourth A-10 Championship next weekend, April 20-22 in Monroeville, Pa.
