Spiders Earn Fourth-Straight Win At East Carolina

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Richmond women's tennis team won its fourth-straight match at East Carolina in a 5-2 decision. The Spiders won four-of-six matches in singles play and took two-of-three in doubles action to earn the win. Pamela Duran continued to play in the number one position for the Spiders earning a win in singles action and with partner, Ashlee Vosters as a duo.
"That was the kind of long, tough match that we needed at this point in our schedule," head coach Mark Wesselink said. "I was very impressed with the stamina and mental toughness of the team."
Along with Duran, Erin Clark, Erin Clark, game back from losing the first set 3-6 to take the second and third sets, 7-6, 6-2.
"Erin's toughness under pressure was impressive," Wesselink commented. "She saved multiple match points made a huge difference in that match."
Duran teamed up with Vosters as Richmond's number one pair to take down East Carolina's Smith/Walter team, 8-5. Xenia Schneider played with Clark in doubles action to earn the win over Priest/Soler, 8-5.
"Our doubles play in the match was very strong," Wesselink added. "Especially Clark and Schneider in the number two position played extremely well for us."
The Spiders look for their fifth-straight win Friday, March 28 as they host Old Dominion for a 2:30 p.m. ET match at the University of Richmond Tennis Complex.
