RALEIGH, N.C. - Behind another big day from freshman Lauren Hines, the Richmond women's swimming & diving team rolled past Campbell 201.5-56.5, but fell to N.C. State 181-102 Saturday morning in Raleigh, N.C.
Hines, the reigning Atlantic 10 rookie of the week, won both the 100 back and 100 free, while swimming the lead-off leg of the second-place 200 medley relay in Saturday's tri-meet.
The freshman was clocked at 56.74 in the 100 back and 52.10 in the 100 free. The medley relay was a razor-tight finish with the Spiders getting out-touched at the wall by the Wolfpack by a hundredth of a second.
Senior Katie Sieben, who also swam on the medley relay with Hines, sophomore Mary Anne Lerro and sophomore Charlotte Brackett, picked up the victory in the 100 fly in a time of 55.89.
Brackett finished second in the 50 free (24.36), followed by Sieben in fourth (24.69). Brackett also took second in the 200 back (2:05.74), with junior Alex Helland in fourth (2:05.08).
LePere posted a third-place finish in the 200 fly (2:09.22), while freshman Erin Bartholomew taking third in the 500 free (5:11.58).
The Spiders return to action Nov. 6 and 7 with a two-deep meet versus Johns Hopkins and Loyola-Maryland in Baltimore.
