UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. -
The women's tennis team was recently ranked No. 74 in the nation in the latest ITA Division I Team Rankings. Richmond is currently 5-1 and plays on the road at Maryland this weekend.
After dropping its first match of the season to Wake Forest, Richmond has won five consecutive matches against Dartmouth, West Virginia, Liberty, conference-rival Temple and No. 67 Penn.
"I'm happy the team is getting some hard-earned recognition," said head coach Mark Wesselink. "This is a strong group that will only get stronger and more confident as they get this kind of acknowledgement."
Anchored by senior Pamela Duran, the Spiders look to knock off ACC power, Maryland this weekend.
The Spiders open their home schedule Feb. 22 versus the College of Charleston. The match is set for 11 a.m.
