Women's Tennis Sweeps Temple, No. 67 Penn This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -
The women's tennis team defeated conference rival, Temple 6-1, and No. 67 nationally ranked Penn, 6-1. The wins move Richmond to 5-1 on the year. On Saturday, the Spiders battled to a 6-1 victory over Atlantic 10 rival Temple.
Richmond won the doubles point with Pamela Duran/Erin Clark def. Steiner/Bergmann 8-1 and Ashlee Vosters/Kelly Tidwell def. Clermont/Rukavyshnykova 8-1. In singles action, the Spiders continued their winning ways with Pamela Duran, Erin Clark, Kelly Tidwell, Helen Cunningham, and Isabel Arana posting victories.

On Sunday, the Spiders faced off against No. 67 nationally ranked UPenn Quakers. Xenia Schneider/Helen Cunningham were the first win with a score of 8-1 over Wong/Shaffer. Next Ashlee Vosters/Kelly Tidwell scored a big 8-4 come from behind victory over Wolf/Sadaka. Number one doubles was a seesaw match with the Spiders Pamela Duran/Erin Clark winning in the tiebreaker 9-8 (3) over Kosminskaya/Ely.
In singles action, Pamela Duran def. Kosminskaya 6-4, 6-4 in a back and forth match. Kelly Tidwell continued her winning ways with a win over Ely 6-4, 7-5. Helen Cunningham is having a great start to her freshman year with another big victory.
Ashlee Vosters scored a convincing win over Wong 6-1, 6-1 and Xenia Schneider defeated Shaffer 6-3, 7-6 (3) in a hard fought contest. The Spiders are 5-1 on the season.
