Swimming Fourth After Day One Of Swimming World College Conference Carnival

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Richmond women's swimming team opened their second-straight appearance in the prestigious Swimming World Magazine College Conference Carnival Friday night at Rutgers and a third-place finish by the 200 free relay highlighted Day One.
"This is such a great meet," said head coach Matt Barany. "We're excited to be at a meet that receives such national coverage. "We are learning from today's races to be better for tomorrow."
Katie Sieben and Lauren Hines teamed in the 200 free relay and captured the bronze medal in a time of 1:37.23.
Hines, the reigning co-Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, also raced to a fourth-place finish in the 200 back (2:05.77) and helped the 200 medley relay to a fourth-place showing.
The 200 medley relay also included Sieben, Brackett and Mary Anne Lerro and was clocked in 3:55.35.
Sieben was sixth in the 100 free (53.24), while Alexi Kuska was sixth in the 500 free (5:08.41).
The second annual Conference Carnival brings together top teams in select conferences in the eastern United States. Minnesota leads after Day One with 160 points, followed by Rutgers (104), Maryland-Baltimore County (78) and Richmond (58).
