PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior Dani Pycroft score her team-leading ninth goal with 7:15 remaining to give the Richmond field hockey team a 3-1 win over La Salle on Sunday.
The goal was Pycroft's 28th of her career, including her seventh game winner. Four of her game-winning goals have come this season. Pycroft ranks 11th on Richmond's all-time goals list, just two goals from tying Allie Howard (30) for 10th.
The Spiders out-shot La Salle 21-3 for the game, but were locked in a scoreless tie with under 10 minutes when Pycroft carried the ball down the right side and sent a shot inside the far post.
Richmond goalkeeper Ann Jefferis made one save to notch her second shutout of the season.
The Spiders return home to conclude the season next weekend, hosting Temple on Friday at 3 p.m. and Saint Joseph's on Sunday at noon. Richmond is tied with both Philadelphia schools in the A-10 standings with 3-2 records.
With UMass and Lock Haven in first and second place, respectively, next weekend's games in Richmond will go a long way in determining who gets the final two spots in the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
