Pycroft And Hess Connect For OT Win Over Temple

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The Spiders out-shot Temple 16-2, but it was not until senior Hannah Hess found senior Dani Pycroft in front of the goal 7:33 into the first overtime that Richmond secured a 1-0 victory over Temple Friday.
The win puts the Spiders in sole possession of third place in the Atlantic 10 with one game to play Sunday against Saint Joseph's (3-3). Temple also dropped to 3-3 in conference play. The top four teams make the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
Hess carried the ball into the circle, drew the goalie and crossed it to Pycroft at the far post. Pycroft converted for her 29th-career goal, which has her 11th on Richmond's all-time scoring list, one goal from cracking the top-10.
The Harare, Zimbabwe native has scored in five of the six conference games and seven of the last 10 games overall. She has five game-winning goal this season and eight for her career.
Hess dished out her fourth assist of the season and the 10th of her career. She now has 24 career points.
Richmond goalkeeper Ann Jefferis recorded her third shutout of the season.
The Spiders host Saint Joseph's on Sunday at noon in the regular-season finale. The six Spider seniors will be honored before the game.
