RICHMOND, Va.- Richmond finished tied for second in the Atlantic 10 standings after a 4-1 victory over Saint Joseph's on Sunday.
Richmond will be the third seed in this coming weekend's Atlantic 10 Tournament, playing No. 2 seed Lock Haven on Friday at 11 a.m. at Temple's Geasey Field. Top-seeded UMass will play host Temple in the other semifinal game at 2 p.m.
The Spiders jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the half on goals by seniors Dani Pycroft and Christin Hanley.
Saint Joseph's cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal by Nicole McCreight six minutes into the second half, which kept it interesting until freshman Chelsea Davies and sophomore Meghan Stocks scored in the final 13 minutes.
Pycroft's goal was the 30th of her career, which brings her into a tie for 10th on Richmond's all-time goals list with Allie Howard (2002-05), one goal behind teammate Katelin Peterson. Pycroft scored in six of the seven Atlantic 10 games and eight of the last 11 games overall.
Seniors Christin Hanley, Hannah Hess, Dani Pycroft, Sara Reese, Michelle Weaver and Tori Whitcher were honored before the game.
