WASHINGTON, D.C. - Junior Katelin Peterson scored her 30th career goal and had two assists as the Richmond field hockey team defeated Georgetown 3-0 Sunday in the Nation's Capital.
Peterson's tipped a ball into the cage off an assist from Hannah Hess 25:14 in the game for her fifth goal of the season and the 30th of her career, which ties her for ninth on Richmond's all-time goals list with Allie Howard (2002-05). It turned into the game winner, giving Peterson eight-career game-winning goals.
Senior Christin Hanley made it 2-0 13:58 into the second half when she took a pass from Peterson and scored on a breakaway. The goal was Hanley's second of the season and fourth of her career.
Peterson started another breakaway for freshman Jessica Hollis with 10:42 remaining in the game and Hollis converted the first goal of her career.
With the goal and two assists, Peterson has 15 points on the season and 74 for her career, which ranks 10th on the Spiders' career list.
Richmond freshman goalkeeper Anna Zarcoski recorded her first career shutont.
The defending Atlantic 10 Champion Spiders open conference play next Friday at new conference member Lock Haven at 3:30 p.m.
