Richmond Rolls Past The Citadel, 79-37, In Season-Opener

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - Senior Justin Harper scored 18 points, making 7-of-8 field goals, including 4-of-4 three-pointers as Richmond defeated The Citadel 79-37 Friday in the 2010-11 season opener.
After the parents of Ryan Butler and David Gonzalvez helped unveil the 2010 NCAA Tournament banner, this year's version of the Spiders jumped out to a 42-16 halftime lead and kept the crowd of over 6,000 entertained until the end of the rout.
The Spiders shot 11-of-20 from behind the arc and 57.4 percent from the field for the game.
Harper led 10 different Spiders who scored at least four points. Junior Josh Duinker scored 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting and freshman Cedrick Lindsay impressed in his collegiate debut, making 4-of-5 field goals, dishing out four assists and grabbing two steals.
Senior Kevin Anderson followed through with his preseason talk of becoming more of facilitator, handing out five assists and scoring six points in 21 minutes of the blowout.
Sophomore Darien Brothers scored nine points on 4-of-8 shooting, while a leaner and noticeably more mobile Dan Geriot had seven points, eight rebounds, and three assists.
Junior Francis-Cedric Martel, sophomore Greg Robbins and freshman Derrick Williams eachhad five points.
The Spiders had 21 assists, only eight turnovers and eight steals.
